About Me, By Me

My dorky dog, Lacey, giving you a big smile! I also have a very old lab collie mix named Aimee!

Writing in the third person about yourself is really weird guys, but when making the About page for this website, I wanted it to be like, a slightly extended version of the About the Author bit in a book, you know? So I had to make it Professional and Cool. And guess what I'm not? Professional or cool. Don't let the website fool you (if it even did in the first place), I am nothing but a certified dweeb. I suppose that's to be expected when you're a 19-year-old college student though. Whatever the case, I wanted to do an About Me, by the real me, dweeby ridiculousness and all. So here we go.

Hi, I'm Elliot! Nice to meet you, person who I do not know but is kind enough to read my blog post. I'm a 19-year-old college student, I use they/them pronouns, and I'm an enby and demisexual. I'm majoring in Creative Writing with a minor in Anthropology, and have somehow maintained a semi-normal sleep schedule through both of them. I've got a nine-year-old cat, Van Gogh, who lives in my dorm with me as my emotional support animal, much to the joy of my roommates and friends, and much to my regret when he makes me come back early at night or else he gets mad at me. I'm a huge cat lover, as evidenced by the fact I'm getting a cat stroller for my twentieth birthday this September, I'm embracing my inner crazy cat person, what can I say? At school, I'm part of the Nightmare Club, aka the "we watch horror movies and then have to walk each other back to the dorms because we're scared" club, and I go to a lot of readings that we host for writers from all over.

Outside of school, I like crocheting, baking, and rewatching the same three shows over and over (Great British Bake Off, The Umbrella Academy, and She-Ra, in case you were interested). I've got a revolving door of hyperfixations, though superheroes, dragons, and the Umbrella Academy always take the top spots. My music tastes range from indie to punk rock to acoustic to just a touch of metal. Definitely not country, no matter how much my mom makes me listen to it. I can't handle the twang. Drives me up a wall. When I'm not studying, I'm usually baking bread and sweets for my greedy roommates, volunteering with the elderly, watching Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse or John Mulaney for the tenth time, or, of course, going insane trying to figure out what to write next. I'm not very good at starting new projects, alright?

The whole reason for making this website (after years of saying I need to do it but not wanting to spend the money to buy a domain...) is because I made the impulse decision to publish Sparks Fly. Blame the ADHD for the idea, but I swear I thought it through for once. I'm hoping to get it all set up and ready to go by July 1st, but we shall see how long the line edits take me. Spelling and grammar are... not my strong suits. Thank god for my best friend/editor/voice of reason and Grammarly. Love you bae. We shall see how this goes, but hey, I'm now finally going to have an answer for when people hear I write novels and go "aRe YoU pUbLiShEd?" Trying to explain the polyamorous gay triad in Sparks Fly to my religious aunt is going to be an experience though, and not one I'm looking forward to. Oh well.

I have run out of things to say about my rather boring self, so I'll leave it here. Thanks for checking out the website, subscribe if you want to hear more of my ramblings, and have a good day!
